      Nagar was formerly a princely state and many kings ruled there for 1200 years.hunza itself was under the domination of nagar kingdom.hunza and nagar collectively called buroshall.the capital of buroshall was capal dongs.after the death of king miyor khan his two sons (moghlot and kirkis) used to quarrel with each others and divided buroshall into two independent states nagar and hunza.moghlot ruled nagar and kirkis ruled hunza.the river was declared as the border of princely states nagar and hunza.the british fought a war in the nilt(a town of nagar)on 1889 till 1892 to control the administration of nagar,the war is called as jangeer-e-lay.in the war nagar people fought well but was defeated due to their lack of weapons and command.the raja(tham in local language)azur khan was sent to kashmir to his exile.the british retained nagar until the partition of sub continent in 1947.in princely state those who had approaches to raja family lived relishing life.but a large number of subject were passing thrrough aggression.zulfiqar ali bhutto made pakistan a democratic country so that he dissolved princely states nagar and hunza on 25sep 1974 and released all prisoners made by raja.now nagar has two tehsils nagar1 and nagar2.
      Nagar borders are linked with gilgit.china is situated in the northeast and afghanistan is in the north west.nagar valley is situated at an elevation of 2438meters.nagar khas(proper nagar)is the main town and biggest town while hakuchar is smallest village.ghulmet,hoper,hisper,minapin and hakuchar are most attractive places of nagar.there people are hospitable to the visitors.
